Your Life Runs on Systems (Whether You Build Them or Not)

Setting up your business in Dubai as a South African ain't easy

I'm writing this from an apartment here in Dubai Marina.

It’s hot, like 40-degrees hot.

The kind of heat that makes you question your life choices… until you see the skyline, the sunsets, and camels casually walking along the beach.

I’m not here on vacation.

I’m here to meet with tax accountants, update my corporate filings, replace my expired SIM card, and maintain my Dubai Residency.

Not glamorous. Not exciting.
But necessary.

Because these aren't just errands, they're life systems.

And they’re just as important (if not more), than the systems you build for yourself.

Last year, I was flying blind…

No Dubai company. No working bank account. No Stripe. And no idea how I was going to survive in a country where my home bank shut me out for using a VPN not allowing me to use my money, or even fix the problem.

“Sorry sir, the system is offline.”

(If you're from South Africa, you know that sentence is basically our national anthem 😂)

I couldn’t access my own money.

I was literally transferring myself cash through Moneygram… because it was the only way to pay for food.

Because apparently the only solution is to go to a physical branch in South Africa to sort it out lol.

It was frustrating, expensive, and time-consuming.

And all of it was caused by one thing:

Broken systems.

Here’s the thing:

We talk a lot about building business systems.

But what about life systems?

Your tax setup is a system.
Your banking is a system.
Your residency is a system.
Your access to capital, tools, and payments… it’s all systems.

And the wrong system will drain your:

  • Time (waiting in lines)

  • Energy (solving dumb problems)

  • Money (taxes, fees, mistakes)

The right system?

You get a sigh of relief.
Because the headache disappears.

It gives you the freedom to build, create, and live without friction.

That’s why I set up in Dubai.

It wasn’t just a business move, it was a systems move.

Now I run my business from anywhere.
I collect payments globally with Stripe.
I have a bank that actually works.
I pay optimized taxes.
I sleep better at night.

Not because I got better at business…
But because I stopped letting broken systems run my life.

So here’s the question:

Where are the broken systems in your life draining your time, energy, and money?
(even if it’s not Notion)

And what would your life look like if you replaced them?

You don’t need to suffer through them.
You just need to find better ones and stop spilling your time, energy and money.

No fluff. Just systems.
