The Anti-Burnout Business Move in Bali

My most productive decision wasn’t in business

I used to think burnout was about working too hard.

Turns out, for me it was about switching locations every other week.

In the past year, I slept in 10 different places across countries and continents.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m immensely grateful for the ability to travel as a result of the passive income from my digital products and the active income from clients, but…

Every time I gained momentum—bam. A move. A cold. A visa run. A new timezone. And suddenly, I’m back to 0.

So me and my girlfriend made a decision that we’re going to live in Bali for the next year.

And this intention led us to signing yearly lease on a 3-bedroom villa in our favourite part here in Bali over the weekend.

Not because it’s “Bali” (the Instagram version of this place is mostly a lie).
But because of what it allows: stability, routine & consistency.

This move wasn’t about aesthetics or the “digital nomad lifestyle” (which is a fancy way of saying you’re homeless).

It was a strategic decision to build momentum.

Here’s why that matters:

  • Momentum is the real ROI multiplier.

  • But momentum only compounds in the presence of certainty.

  • Certainty requires an environment that makes the right action the default.

So the first thing I’m doing when we move in on the 1st of June is convert one of the bedrooms into my dream studio.

The goal: optimize my environment for defaults.
Default actions that makes working hard as easy as possible.
An environment that puts me in the flow state.

That’s the goal, and that’s what I’ll be physically creating in our new villa.
