Most business owners still think the only way for them to grow and scale is to hire more people.

You don't need a team. You need leverage.

Having a team is one form of leverage in business, but it's not the only one, and for a Solopreneur, it's the wrong one.

Naval Ravikant put it best. There are only 4 forms of leverage in business:

Labour — people working for you. The oldest form of leverage and what primarily gets taught in traditional business education. But hiring people costs money, time to train and manage them, and if you hire the wrong people or don’t know how to lead them, it can backfire. It’s really powerful and still the goal, but not where you start.

Capital — money working for you. Investors, loans, credit lines. Usually not realistic for Solopreneurs, and always comes with strings.

Content — media working for you. YouTube videos, courses, ads, short-form content, books, podcasts, and SOPs to train the team. Takes a few hours but has the potential to reach millions and scale infinitely without costing more.

Code — software working for you. Systems, automations, AI agents. Once it’s built, it’ll work 24/7 and can handle more volume so you can scale. This is where AI comes in and automate your work for you, so you can do the job of 10 people.

If you're a Solopreneur, two out of four are basically off the table. You can't afford to hire a team and probably don’t have access to investors (otherwise you’d have a team).

Which leaves code and content.

These two are the highest-leverage forms of all four and is what Naval calls permissionless leverage. You don't need to convince anyone to work for you or give you money. You just need a laptop and wifi to create code & content.

The internet democratized content, allowing me and you to distribute information.

The same thing is happening now with AI, it’s democratizing code, allowing non-coders like me and you to also create code, automations and software.

Getting Code leverage should be your primary focus right now

Because with AI, the cost of building code leverage has collapsed. Work that used to take a team of 10 to do, can now be done by one Solopreneur with the right AI Operating System.
